Dear Dr. Toast,
We accidentally found your website during our search for some information about the toast’s history and its consumer habits. We are 10 students from Germany who are participating at a famous marketing/design competition and our task is to create a complete new strategy/commercials for a very famous Toast Brand. To win this competition you could help us, as you are a famous toast doctor. We are sure you can help us to answer our questions [below]. It would be sooo helpful to get some answers. We will name your help in our presentation.
Thank you so much,
– Angela from Germany (angeladies@xxxxx.com)

Radiant textures and melodies over deep, head-nodding beats and dirty analog basslines - the perfect soundtrack for a midnight drive through the desert. Over three years in the making, “The Wave Function” is the result of my continuing immersion in San Francisco music and art communities. My eyes and ears are always being turned on to something new and strange and beautiful, and I hope you’ll be able to hear some of that in these songs. I am eternally thankful for all of the support and encouragement that has made this music possible, and I hope you’ll enjoy listening as much as I’ve enjoyed making it. You can order the CD now, featuring original artwork by Dr. Toast, or download songs now at addictech.com in high-quality MP3 or lossless FLAC/WAV formats, or download from iTunes in m4p format.

False Profit Records FPR-101 - 11 tracks - 67min 13sec

Released simultaneously with “The Wave Function”, these are four tracks of evolving textures with skronked-up basslines and slow, funky breakbeats - harder-edged than what’s on the album, but still with the right amount of bliss factor dialed in. You can download it now at the new False Profit Records minisite at Addictech in high-quality MP3 or lossless FLAC/WAV formats - falseprofit.addictech.com, or you can download MP3s at CD Baby, or download from iTunes in m4p format.

Wow. From Archie McPhee: “Toast is great, but it’s hard to keep in your pocket. So what do you do when you crave the warm comfort of toast but don’t want to deal with the crumbs? You pull out your Inflatable Toast, blow it up and admire its realistic toasty goodness! Each soft vinyl slice of toast is 6″ tall and has a standard inflation valve.” Get yours today!

My new album “The Wave Function” is coming out on a brand new label, False Profit Records! You can hear a few of the new tracks on my MySpace page. The record release party is happening on Thursday, March 27, at Poleng Lounge (1751 Fulton St. in San Francisco), from 10pm to 2am. Also featuring performances by Welder, Mr. Projectile, and F’kir. The party is only $5, or for $10 you get to take home a copy of the CD! Food, drinks, music, and a free toast bar! If you can’t make it, be sure to get on my mailing list so I can let you know when the album is for sale online.
My thanks to Melvin Priester for hosting this listening party for my new music! Melvin says:
“A good number of my favorite Burning Man stories now start like this, ‘I was hanging out in our dome and then Dr. Toast started playing…’ Simply put, lying on fuzzy gymmats, listening to Dr. Toast play live, watching cool visuals on a tricked out system is one of my favorite things in the world. So, in celebration of Dr. Toast’s forthcoming new CD, The Wave Function, and also my impending departure for Europe and South America (leaving SF for A WHILE March 12), we will be recreating that set-up, sans dust, on March 6 from 8:30 to 11 p.m. @ the amazing loft of the man who has provided both the cush and the sound behind so many of my favorite burning man experiences.”
WHAT: Dr. Toast Listening Party. WHEN: Thursday, March 6, 2008, 8:30 - 11:00 p.m. (Toast starts playing a little after 9). WHERE: 865 Florida St., Space 2. VISUALS: MC Um Amel (UCSC Digital Arts/New Media). SOUND: Periphony Systems. DAMAGE: $10, in advance, via paypal to mpriester@gmail.com
