Industrial designer Jaren Goh’s new Roller Toaster represents a major advance in modern toasting mechanics.  It smoothly pulls in the bread, wrings out all the un-toasted-ness, and drops the hot, crispy result onto your plate.

Toaster Radio!

Monday, August 7th, 2006

For thousands of years we have had clock radios, toaster ovens, ovens with clocks…. but why not a toaster with a radio built in? Finally, such a thing has come to pass. I only wish they had taken it to the next logical step - a toaster alarm clock radio, gently waking you with the comforting smell of fresh toast. But then, perhaps sleepily reaching for the snooze alarm and thusly putting your fumbly digits in a burning hot toaster might not be so good.

A Toaster that Never Burns the Bread

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

“The device works by sucking in particles of caramelised bread and blowing them through an ionising sensor. In this sensor a small electrical current flows through an airborne path of ions, emitted by a pellet of radioactive americium-241. The ions attach themselves to any toast particles and reduce the strength of the current. You can set the toaster to switch off when the current drops by a specific amount according to how brown you like your toast.” Read the article!
