Dr. Toast makes his 3rd annual performance at False Profit’s Priceless campout this 4th of July weekend, at a beautiful location on the Feather River in the Sierra town of Belden, CA. Three days of camping and swimming plus interactive fire and video art from False Profit Labs, vegetarian/vegan food from Table Nectar, plus sculpture, workshops in balloon animals, hand percussion, knot tying, yoga, and staff spinning. Dr. Toast Live @ California Academy of Sciences

Thursday, April 9, 2009, 6pm-10pm – Dr. Toast presents a fascinating lecture on the current state of Toastronomical Science at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Well, either that, or he’s spinning his toasty beats there for the 3rd annual Yuri’s Night Bay Area as part of the Academy’s NightLife series. Celebrate the anniversary of the first human spaceflight with music from Dr. Toast, Nalepa, Random Rab, and Cumulus, explore the indoor rain forest and Morrison Planetarium, hear lectures from visiting NASA scientists, and enjoy ambient soundscapes in the Steinhart Aquarium.

Social Networking for your Toaster

An enterprising young gentleman from Pittsburgh named Hans Scharler has connected his toaster to Twitter. Now you can get realtime updates of its toasting endeavors on its Twitter page. Hans connected his toaster to an ioBridge module, which allows it to send realitime email updates to its Twitter account whenever toasting starts or stops. He blogs about the project on his site, and has posted a slideshow on Instructables.

In the back room we’ll have some food & snacks as well as a couple televisions setup in a more relaxing environment so that the more serious voter can catch all the election info as it comes in.
